Tom Mac Allen is a Thirty year resident of the Cupsaw Lake area of Ringwood, a former Vice Chairperson of the Ringwood Planning Board, and past President of Cupsaw Lake. Tom and his wife Arlene have raised two boys in Ringwood, both graduates of the public school system. Arlene teaches at the Ringwood Cooperative Nursery School and was also a member of the Ringwood Board of Education’s Ad Hoc committee for strategic planning for Ringwood’s schools.

Tom is a Professional Engineer, with a Masters Degree from NJIT, and is a Vice President for URS Group Inc. one of the nation’s largest engineering firms. A nearly 30 year veteran of the firm, he heads up the Water Resources Department in Wayne, NJ. Starting as a Junior Volunteer Fireman in Glen Rock at the age of 18, throughout his adult life he has given back to the community; as sports coach for the Cupsaw Lake Men’s AA, the Ringwood Rovers and the Ramapo Valley Tornados; as a member and officer of the Ringwood Planning Board; as a Director and officer of CLIA; and as a Commodore of Cupsaw’s Sailing Club.

As councilman, Tom has worked diligently to seek opportunities to lower the cost of government through shared services and streamlining town government without reducing services. He, along with Bill and Wenke, traveled to Trenton to represent Borough residents and was able to secure funding for the Oakwood and Wildwood water main, and fought to get NJDOT to allow Ringwood to lower the speed limits around the Lakes. He was instrumental in repairing the drainage problems at a new park in Upper Ringwood allowing it to finally be used as intended. Mr. Mac Allen is a graduate of the Municipal Elected Officials Certificate Program; a mainstay in educating Municipal Officials on their role in local government.
